Whether you are a teenager on a budget or a business woman wanting to cut on their spending, when there is ways to save money whilst still buying a few makeup products every now and then then they are a holy grail. Doesn’t matter whether it is a £40 pound eyeshadow palette from Estee Lauder or a £1 lipstick from MUA it still applies.
1: Do your research! Whatever makeup product you are buying then it is always best to read a few reviews on what you have your eye on. There are thousands of product reviews out there, whether you find them on a blog like this or on the actual makeup brands sight, they can come in hand. They can stop you spending money on products that may not be any good. I often do this for any product or brand I am unsure on.
2: Buy more drug store makeup! Honestly drug store makeup can be a life saver and has really improved in recent years, and very often I find drug store products to be so much better than some higher end brands. When you buy a higher end product like a Kylie Lip Kit or a Mac Foundation, your are mostly paying for the brand name. For example my all time favourite highlighter is from MUA and was only £3 but is amazing quality and is very pigmented.
3. Mind over matter! You have to admit it is very easy to get carried away when buying makeup, but often it is the idea of testing them all out and then just picking them up that makes you buy them even if you don’t need them. Shops like Boots and Superdrug often have 3 for 2 deals so use them and get the most out of your money!
4. Loyalty Cards Galore! Most shops nowadays like Boots, Superdrug or other stores have loyalty cards where you scan them every time you buy something from that shop and you gain points. When the member of staff asks you “Do you want a loyalty card?” say yes because you can save up points and then treat yourself to a high end goodie! I always am in shock over the amount of points I have accumulated and it makes it feel so much better knowing that you are paying in points not money.
5. Use those discount codes! When I go out for a meal in my restaurant I always get my mum going “Make sure you use any discount codes you can find”. Well this applies to makeup as well. More than often in magazines you can find discount codes, or other bloggers will advertise coupon codes. Take advantage of these even if they only get you free delivery, because trust me that £3 or £4 will make a difference somewhere along the line!
6. DIYs can help you save money too! This may not be everybody’s cup of tea and I understand that, but this can be in the form of the simplest of things like when washing your makeup brushes. I never specifically buy a product to wash my makeup brushes because I find that my Tea Tree Conditioner is really good at cleaning them and making them really soft.
