It’s coming up to that time of year where Valentine’s cards are displayed in shops, everywhere starts selling a variety of chocolates and there is a competition between couples as to who gets each other the best gift. Whether you are going out for a romantic meal with your partner, are staying in with some Netflix or are going out with a load of friends celebrating being single, I have made a makeup look which is perfect for this romantic day. I will most likely be either at home with a load of chocolates and a good old rom-com or I will be at the gym, however I adored creating this vibrant makeup look.
Before I did anything I used my primer which is the Mac Prep + Prime Moisture Infusion so that my makeup would apply smoothly. To start the main look, I did the eyes. I wouldn’t normally do this, I would usually start with foundation and concealer, however because this is such a dominant eye look, it is guaranteed to have some fall off of eyeshadow, which I didn’t want ruining my foundation. I also used the Avon Eyeshadow Primer in light beige to set the base of the eyeshadow look. I put this up to the top of my brow bone as well. I won’t do reviews of products as such because if I do it will be a reallllllyyyyy long post, so if you want to know about products specifically let me know in the comments!
To set the primer I used the lightest shade from the Morphe 35OM Matte Nature Glow Palette because this allowed a nice white base to make the rest of the colours pop out. With the colours, I took a camel coloured shade from the morphe palette and used it as a transition colour in my crease. This just defines the crease and makes the rest of the shadows easier to blend. I then took the darkest red shade in the same palette and swept it right across the outer corner, the crease and inner corner. I blended this quite high up, close to the brow bone making it a really bold look.
I wanted to add the little pink into the look so I used the Makeup Revolution Flawless Eyeshadow Palette and the shade Red Night in the very outer corners and the inner corner. I blended it all together but leaving the centre of the lid bare. I then used a small angled brush and the original red colour and pulled it under the bottom lash line. For the centre, I wanted a bit of glitter because it is Valentines Day after all and it only happens once a year. From the same Makeup Revolution palette I used the shade Angel which is a really glittery highlighting shade which is so pigmented! I out it in the centre of my eye and on the inner corner.
Because this is such a bold look I didn’t want a huge wing liner going on, it just would have been too much, so I just simply lined my eye with the Soap and Glory Supercat Skinny Eyeliner. I thought about lining my water liner, however I am not sure if it is just me, but I hate doing it and I find it so hard, so I decided to leave it out. I didn’t have any false lashes on me however I used my Mac mascara that you know I love and that gave me really voluminous lashes.
After they eye makeup was complete I wiped away any fall off from the eyeshadow and started with my foundation. I used the L’Oreal True Match Foundation and I have actually warmed to it. I never really liked it but it is so easy to blend I now like it. I then used the Maybelline Eye Eraser Concealer under my eyes. This was hard because I didn’t want to ruin my eye makeup, but if you make a mistake you can just some,y blend out where you went wrong and it will look perfect again! However on my spots and any blemishes I used the amazing Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. I LOVE THAT CONCEALER. I finshed my base with the Bobbi Brown SheerPressed Powder, but I have nearly ran out of it which makes me want to cry….!
I have to apologise for my awfully over grown and unplucked eyebrows… I need to book and appointment to get them waxed! However I used the Freedom Makeup Pro Brown Pomade to fill in my brows. For the lips I used my Helen E Long Lasting Lipstick in Seville. I decided to go for a nude because it would have been over the top with a bright red lip colour and bright red eyes.
Lastly was the cheeks and contour. I used the Jelly Pong Pong Caribbean Sun Duo Palette for my contour. I haven’t used this palette in ages so I was a nice alternative. I blended out to make it natural. For blusher I used the Makeup Revolution Queen Of The Blush Palette. I did it quite subtle because I am not a huge blusher fan. For highlight, of course I used the amazing MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter in Iridescent Gold. If you want a high end quality product, for a drug store price, then get this! I applied this to my cheek bones, Cupid’s bow and along the bridge and tip of my nose to give a dewy effect.
