Instagram Things You Are Doing Wrong

IMG_2964
I have to admit recently I have been struggling with my Instagram because of a lack of algorithm and lack of activity. I partially blame it upon myself because I am in the mist of revising for my exams so I have been a little preoccupied, but it is also because I feel like I don’t stick to a theme on my blog. However I don’t like sticking to a theme because I find themes so hard to maintain and the really limit you on what you post. But, those who do stick to themes… OMG YOUR INSTAGRAM IS GORG. I am always jealous of themes and all the different ones out there.
But because my Instagram has been a little slow lately, I have been doing a little bit of research on how to improve etc… and I thought I would share my findings with you because I think there are a lot of bloggers in the same book as me. I have a little group chat on Instagram with other bloggers and we were all talking about it too. It’s crazy to think that even bloggers I admire go through these outs of struggles. So here are some Instagram things you might be doing wrong!

You are putting too many hashtags on each image.

In no way does this mean don’t put hashtags on your image, because if you use them correctly they can work Instagram miracles. However Instagram actually limits the amount of hashtags you use because if you use over 30 hashtags then your caption won’t appear on your images, so all those hashtags you spent time on writing out won’t work! Try and keep it to 25 maximum.

Your account is on private.

Being a blogger, having your account on public is critical. When your account is on private your photos won’t appear under hashtags, and when your people see this on your profile they are likely to not follow you because you might answer follow requests for days and they can’t see any content on your account so they don’t know what they are following.

Your are posting photos too close together.

This is one of the most common reasons why people will unfollow you. There is nothing wrong posting multiple times a day but when you post multiple posts after each other people will loose interest. It could also cause people just to scroll past you post, killing your engagement.

Your not responding to comments.

If you want to build a stronger relationship with your followers it is super important to respond to comments on your photos! If you comment back and build up conversations people would be more likely to comment on your posts again building up a platform which multiplies in size.

You haven’t changed your account to a business page.

For bloggers, or celebrities… basically anyone with a Facebook Page can change their account to a business account which let you have multiple links to your website or blog, have a contact button and it can let you view all your Instagram analytics which can help you find out when to post.
I have found these little tips life savers recently so let me know if this helps you too! I have some more so if you would like another post like this just say and I will do it.

p.s The book featured ‘Capture Your Style’ by Aimee Song is all about this and is AMAZING so get your hands on it here.

I don’t think I’ll ever have a beautiful instagram feed with a theme no matter how hard I try! Just followed you on @rosieculture 🙂

Good tips! I’m definitely in the same boat, mine is all over the place but I like it haha! When you’ve switched to a business page did you have to connect it publicly with your Facebook? Like I don’t have a Facebook for my blog so do I have to connect it to my personal Facebook?

It can only be with a public facebook page.

Yeah like Lena has said, it has to be a public facebook page (one which you can click ‘like’) rather than your personal facebook account.

I had my instagram on public for a while but I actually realized I was getting less followers! People would see all my posts and then not have anything to follow for. I don’t know why it did that for me!

Oh right I have never thought of it that way before!

Another tip I’ve read on Pinterest is to put your hashtags in the comments. That way people can read your caption and you put the hashtags as many as you want.

I tried this once but then the hashtags didn’t work, maybe that was my fault though!
