Going Back To Old Faves – Rimmel Stay Matte Powder

IMG_3903IMG_3905

I thought about doing a blog post like this when I was actually talking about a Rimmel Mascara I have gone back to using recently, however it made me realise it wasn’t the only old fave that I have recently gone back to using.

There is always that satisfaction of buying a new product and you have that feeling of ‘OMG THIS PRODUCT IS AMAZING I AM NEVER GOING BACK’ so you just put your old products to the back of the draw and never really look at them again. This happens to me allllll the time and I am the first to put my hands up and say I am guilty of it.

I ran out my Bobbi Brown powder recently (RIP) and it is quite an expensive powder just to be able to keep rebuying and buying and buying, so I decided to go back to the powder I used to use. I started using the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder when I first got into makeup, and I loved it, but then I fell out of love with it because I think it went past it sell by date (and yes this can happen).

So I popped into Boots and picked it up again in the shade 006 Warm Beige. I forgot how good this powder was and OH MY GOD I LOVE IT. Why I ever underestimated it I don’t know! It is only £3.99 so it is an amazing bargain and you would expect it to be worth more.

When you put your brush into the product you get a lot of product pay off – if that is the right saying – and you get a lot of product applied onto your face in just one go. However if you put too much on, like any powder it can look a bit cakey on your face. What I also like about it is that it makes my face very matte, which you would expect as it is in the name. I only like matte powders so it is perfect for me. Even though I have drier skin, you would think it would make my skin look worse, however I find it even outs my skin and doesn’t affect how dry it looks.

The only thing I would say is that it is not the longest lasting foundation because I will have to top it up if I am out all day, especially on my nose where I can find my skin is a bit more oily. Also the only thing that reflects the price is the packaging because it is a simple plastic packaging which if you leave lose in your bag will crack, and then your powder will crumble in your bag everywhere! I can speak from experience…

I actually really rate this product simply because it is so cheap. I don’t like spending lots of money on things like powder because I use it everyday and because of that it will be used up quickly. This is why it is good because I can buy four of these powders for the price of one higher end product, whilst still getting good results.

You can find the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder here.

Have you ever used this powder?
