I have been meaning to get my hands on a new highlighter for a while now because I only actually have one highlighter and that is my MUA one. I love it because it is so cheap and really pigmented but I felt like it was time for a change so I only when and got the brand new Jeffree Star highlighter which was in collaboration with Manny MUA. I was really excited to try this highlighter because I saw it on one of Caito Potato’s makeup videos and it looked honestly insane.
So I went onto Beauty Bay and I ordered it. I couldn’t resist myself. It was £25.50 with free shipping, with to be honest wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I was also really impressed with Beauty Bay’s shipping because I ordered it on Bank Holiday Monday, expecting that to cause a delay, but it came in two days! I thought that was amazing!
I have been wearing the highlighter today so I could give you an honest review of the product. As it is a fairly new product there isn’t that many review out there yet so when I got it I didn’t really have anything to tell me what it was like before. I always like to do my research if I an before I go buying a high end product because I don’t want to waste my money.
The packaging is so chic but so cool because the box has a black holographic pattern on it and then the actual product is a matte black with holographic silver writing. I feel like it is really sleek and you can tell it is a higher end product from the packaging. It has a mirror in too which is helpful because it is quite a big mirror too.
The colour is called Eclipse and is almost a rose gold in the pan. The powder has the classic Jeffree Star symbol in it and the Moon as well which I guess is representing Manny MUA. I usually put my highlighter on with a fan brush or my Real Technique contour brush so I went with my fan brush. I couldn’t get over the size of it as it is huge. If you saw my Instagram story then you would have seen it was the size of the palm of my hand.
My first reaction was that it had a lot of fall off. Highlighters do generally have a fair amount of fall off because of the glitter that is in them, however when I swept my brush across it, it felt like it was snowing onto my jeans. I might have just been putting too much onto my brush though…
It definitely is as pigmented as I thought it was going to be and that did live up to my expectation. The swatch in the photo above was shows what the product looks like just when you slid your fingers down the product one. Like just look at that pigmentation! It doesn’t show it very well in the photo but it actually looks rather silver on the skin. This might just be because my old highlighter was very gold, however I do like it for a change.
I didn’t have to put a lot of product on my brush to get good results and the best thing about this highlighter is that it is very natural and you can then build it up to look more dramatic if you wish to. I have worn it all day today to test to see how long it lasts and it has lasted the majority of the day. Only in the evening it was starting to wear off but it lasted a good 11 hours.
Overall, I actually really like this highlighter I just wish that there wasn’t so much fall off from the product before you apply it.
You can get this highlighter off Beauty Bay here.
I also just want to say that I might be a bit absent the next two weeks as exams are creeping up on me very quickly!
Have you ever tried any Jeffree Star Products?
