How To Throw A Last Minute Picnic Party

The other day my friends Rosie, Sophie, Milly and I had a little bit of a picnic party to celebrate some of us finally finishing our AS exams. It was just a little treat so we could relax and it was really sunny so we sun bathed as well. Our picnic wasn’t as Pinterest worthy as some you see however I really enjoyed it and that is the main part right?! It is so simple to throw a picnic for your friends or family, and it is perfect for summer time.

The best place to throw a picnic party is either in a public field, or your back garden or somewhere with grass. I got two large blankets (plus Rosie’s tiny ground sheet) and we put a box underneath one of them to make our own little table. It is best to bring some cushions as well just to make it extra comfy and cosy. We also had fairy lights strung across the rug and a candle on our make shift table. These are good if you are doing it in the evening because it makes it look super pretty and the candle will keep away any unwanted creepy crawlies!

You could say we sort of cheated on the food because we ordered dominos, however who doesn’t love dominos?! However we did have other bits of food which we snacked on before the pizza arrived. The main picnic foods which are good to bring because everyone will love is crisps or any kind. We had salted tortilla chips and then had salsa and other dips with it. Also fruit on skewers always goes down well because they look so pretty and colourful. If you wanted hot food and you do the garden idea like we did, you can just pick up some pizzas or garlic bread to snack on among everyone. If you have time, baking a cake will put a smile on everyone’s face or like Rosie did she bought some biscuits along.

Plastic plates and cutlery is a MUST because they are easy to pack and then once you have finished with them you can just chuck them in the bin and not worry about having to wash up any dishes.

Drinks wise, we had a bottle of Diet Coke, and Rosie also bought some cocktail glasses and a bottle of Baby Champs. This was a good idea because it made it more of a party and gave us a bit of a reward for finishing out exams.

What is a party without music? There are loads of playlists on either Spotify or Apple Music which are perfect for summer and for parties and Milly bought along her portable speak so we were just sunbathing a listening to a bit of music. It was lush!

Anther idea for activities other than eating, is to do each others nails or do some henna tattoos. These are what we did, as Sophie bought her shellac nail kit around. I know not everyone has one but you could just use simply nail polishes. We also ave been addicted to doing henna tattoos on each other lately so we did some at the picnic. Henna is basically a brown paste that leaves semi-permanent tattoos on your skin. I am not very good at it but between us we made some good designs and it was a lot of fun.

Picnics are so much fun and we will be definitely having another this summer as it is a great bucket list idea, and it is easily achievable even if it is a last-minute idea.

Is this going on your bucket list?
