If I was to only be able to apply one part of my makeup routine it would be filling in my brows because I feel bare without my eyebrows. I feel like your brows can really define your face if you fill them in and shape the correctly. I also feel like I have a pretty good judgement when it comes to testing out brow products because I have tried so many different ones to find what will give me the ability to create ‘the perfect brow’.
I have used the Freedom Makeup Brow Pomade previously and I loved it, however it ran out and it was always a little too dark for me. The one thing with it is that when your are in Superdrug looking at it and choosing your shade, you can only go and chose your shade by the picture on the box, and they have no testers. This is actually the same for NYX however NYX have a smaller collection of shades and pomades that you can chose from so I thought I would just go for it.
The pot is actually smaller than the Freedom one and it is £1 more expensive at £6 but in the great schemes of things it isn’t that much of a difference. However it would be nicer if it was a little bit bigger.
I got the shade Brunette which is a sort of Ash Brown shade which is a pretty good match to my hair colour considering I just guessed which one would be best. It is similar to my last pomade but just a little lighter. I have been using my Spectrum A14 brush, which is an eyeliner brush really but has a good shape to fill in brows too.
I start by outlining the shape of my brows and then I fill the rest in, starting at the outer part of the eyebrow and then applying less as my eyebrow gets closer to the center. I like to apply a lot of product just so I can get a defined and bold brow. I feel like this is harder to get with this pomade, however it is definitely buildable so just takes a little longer than normal. This does mean though that this is a good pomade if you want to achieve an easy natural brow.
The consistency of the product is not cakey and not crumble which is good however can be a little patchy, however that depends on what brush you use too. It is not 100% waterproof or smudge proof though. If you go swimming it will stay on, but if you rub it, it will come off. However it can easily come off with makeup wipes or makeup remover which is good because my last pomade was hard to get off.
It is a really affordable pomade for its price and would be a good dupe for the Anatasia Dip Brow and if you are looking to start off with pomades then this would be a good option as it is easy to use.
