I am not going to lie and say I wake up extra early in the morning to make myself look pristine perfect before I go to college because in reality I value my sleep too much. Sleep > anything! So I give myself about 45 minutes in the morning to get ready and I am one of those people with a set routine. If I stick to it then there is no problem at all, unless someone takes too long in the bathroom then all hell breaks loose. I have made it an accomplishment that I can now do my makeup in roughly 10 minutes if I am in a rush, so this is what I do…
<< Prime that fresh face >>
First of all like I would do with any makeup routine I would prime my face. However I chose my primer dependent on how much time I have. Because I have very little time when I am in a rush – obvs – I go for my ordinary liquid primer because it dries so quick that you can literally put foundation on top straight away. So creamier, or thicker primers can take an age to dry and stop feeling sticky on your skin so this is just V handy.
<< Use a makeup sponge >>
This is the age-old debate whether to use a brush or makeup sponge, however, in a rush a makeup sponge ~ in my opinion ~ is better as it blends the foundation smoother and quicker. It doesn’t leave any pesky brush marks or hairs on our face which you have to waste more time correcting.
<< Double it up >>
You can get some foundations which act as a concealer and foundation so you don’t have to use two products and use up more time. If you find yourself always in a bit of a hurry in the mornings, then perhaps you should consider getting a 2-in-1 product. I use foundation and concealer because the foundation that I am using at the moment have a light coverage, however I use a concealer that is the same shade as my skin, rather than it being slightly lighter. This just allows me to save a bit of time as you don’t have to blend it as thoroughly.
<< Skip the contour >>
I love contouring and I feel fully dressed with a touch of highlighter, however trying to get it looking precise can take time, especially if you aren’t that confident with it. I skip it in my makeup routine when going to college because even though I think it looks lush, at the end of the day I will be leaning on my cheek when writing etc… so it will just rub off on the back of my hand.
<< Cream eyeshadow or eyeshadow sticks >>
I don’t wear eyeshadow on an everyday basis, but there have been times when I have and even though I would like to spend hours making it look all dainty, with those perfect cut creases, I AIN’T GOT TIME FOR THAT. A cream or stick eyeshadow is perfect to sweep across the lid and blend out for a luxurious but SIMPLE smokey eye. They are so easy to do as well you can’t go wrong.
How long do you spend on your makeup routine? What do you do to save time?
