How I Look After My Skin In Winter

It is no lie I am not very good at keeping up a skin care routine. I think it is just down to pure laziness.. bad I know but IDC… or the fact that my skin is very sensitive so I have to be careful at what I use or else I will get a reaction. The simplest of things like using a different face wipe than usual will make me look like a Rudolph’s nose ITSJUSTSOANNOYING.
I have pretty good skin if I do say so myself. I never used to because I had a fringe which just made my forehead oily and I got spots. I get the odd one or two like atm there is one on my cheek and heck does it hurt! But to keep those pesky blemishes that we all hate away you must have some sort of routine. Also in winter, the cold air is horrible to your skin. It makes it dry and feel like it needs a little ~~ TLC ~~.
So firstly when I am in the shower or just before bed I always just use a flannel ans some warm water and wash all the makeup off my face. I do this even when I don’t have makeup on because it is just good to get rid of all dirt and what not that is on your face. I then use my trusty cucumber face wipes from Tesco just to make sure EVERYTHING IS OFF. Believe it or not after all the high-end makeup wipes I have tried to see what wouldn’t react to my skin, Tesco would come out on top!!

Then about twice a week I exfoliate. I don’t like to exfoliate my skin every day because that can actually start harming your skin, as exfoliation can be quite harsh. It’s a bit like sand paper, obvs NOT exactly like it but you get me. I have two exfoliators which I use at the moment and they are the Biore Charcoal Oil Control Scrub and the Opatra Gentle Exfoliating Gel. I use the Biore one in the summer when my skin is naturally more oily, and the Opatra one in the winter when my skin is more dry because of the cold air.
I then cleanse my skin and make it silky smooth with the Lush 9 to 5 Cleanser. It isn’t heavy or greasy on the skin. It is soooooo important to cleanser after you exfoliate because it just calms your skin down a bit and gets rid of the ‘tight feeling’ that sometimes happen after you exfoliate. I hope you like my amazing terminology. I apply it with a cotton pad and wash it off after.
To finish my skin routine I use the Lush Tea Tree Toner and spray this all over my face. I wish I could be one of those people who can look really elegant when using it but NOPE I pull the most screwed up face in the history of screwed up faces. Nonetheless is does an amazing job and I just rub it in with a cotton pad.
How do you look after your skin in the winter??

Out of curiosity, have you tried chemical exfoliants? I agree that mechanical exfoliation is too harsh for daily use, but chemical, when I don’t use it daily I miss it so much.

My skin is sensitive as well and sometimes I don’t want to disturb it.
