All The Foundations I Have Used

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

I think I have been wearing makeup since 2012-13… maybe… I am not sure but when I did start wearing makeup I had no clue what I was doing. Everyone was starting to wear it, and I wanted to because obvs I was going through bodily changes #cringe and I didn’t want everyone seeing my spots and what not. My first ever bits of makeup was just hand me downs from my mum – an old Revlon palette for my fat as slug brows at the time, a Rimmel mascara, and an Avon concealer stick.

I remember going into Boots and getting my first ever foundation which was the << Max Factor Face Finity 3 in 1 Foundation >> in the shade Warm Almond 45. Don’t ask me why I went for Max Factor out of every brand out there, it was probably because they always do little gift deals, but the women tested my skin tone and what type of skin I had. I used this foundation for years, I went through so many bottles, and it was a very good foundation. It was matte, which is my bae, and it isn’t too harsh on the skin as it does have primer in it. It was full coverage, and for someone like me when you are trying to cover spots it’s a good thing. I only stopped using it because in the winter, I would suffer from dry skin and I found this clung to it quite badly, so I opted for something else. Other than that I loved it!

Now the next two I can’t get my head around // I seriously have the memory of a goldfish \\ BUT I think I got the << Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation >>. I had the concealer of this, it was one of my first concealers, so I was like ‘let’s try the foundation too’. As you can see from the bottle, it is a lot more orange than the others, even though it is the second lightest shade 100 Light Ivory. So I think there is still some left, as I only use it in the summer when I have more of a tan, but I have used a fair amount. I have never tried any of the other Rimmel Foundations but a lot of people have said this is their fave. It is more dewy than matte, but has a thicker formula than most foundations.

I then went onto the << L’Oreal True Match Foundation >> in 1.W Golden Ivory. This actually is very similar in my mind to the Max Factor Foundation which is perhaps why I loved it. I went through several bottles of it, and there is a HUGE colour shade range, if you can’t find your shade then that’s super unlucky! The only thing is that it is one of those foundations that just goes all over the pump, but I would go back to this again!

The only reason I swapped to the << Revlon ColourStay Foundation >> is because I wanted to try something new out, BECAUSE WHY THE HELL NOT?! I really enjoyed this foundation as it suits combination skin, my dreeaaaammmm foundation on paper, but it is the most expensive out all the foundations I have used. That is the reason I didn’t re-purchase it, because I couldn’t afford to use that as my every day foundation. The consistency was really light though, and I didn’t have to wear a lot of setting powder with it which is good!

Last but by no means least is the foundation I am using now and I am so dearly in LOVE with is << The Ordinary Coverage Foundation >>. OMFFGGGGGG This foundation is my dream foundation, it is bloody perfect and I don’t know if I will ever use another foundation again. It goes on really well, blends so easily and you can use barely any product and get a really good coverage look. It is a little dark for me, but it just makes me look tan so I-AIN’T-COMPLAINING. And now the best part…. *drum roll* It is only £5. When I bought it, it was at least. I got it in their Covent Garden store which was beaut, and then it sold out online for months so#THANKGOD I got it!!

What foundations have you been through?!

  1. I’ve used two of these foundations, the Max Factor three in one and the L’Oréal which is what I am currently using. I remember the max factor being my first ‘adult’ foundation I liked it at the time, by my god was it too orange for me. I’m very pale so when I wore that I was a walking orange. Then came along L’Oréal a few years later and their foundation is closed to my pale complexion but it still way to orange so now I add lightning drops because I actually like the formula. I definitely want to try the Ordinary as so many people have raves about how good it is… I pray they go light enough for my skin! Haha

  2. I think I’ve been wearing foundation since 1997 🤭 Started with MAC Studio Fix, then Revlon Colorstay, now Giorgio Armani Power Fabric. My skin is super temperamental, so when I choose one it is for the long haul. Love The Ordinary products! Haven’t tried their new foundation; I believe it has silicone which breaks me out horribly. If it works for you, go for it! Great post 👍🏻

  3. I don’t even remember what my first foundation was – it was SO long ago!

I started wearing makeup either a Junior or Senior in high school. My skin was fine until that point where I was like, ok – I need something, lol. I was buying higher end products before I switched over to drug store.

I went through Cover Girl first and graduated to Maybelline – that’s what works for me right now. I don’t use foundation anymore because I don’t like the heaviness of it. I just use concealer, a bit of powder, bronzer, blush – done! Also, all Maybelline.

If you know a foundation that’s light on the skin, please let me know!
