Beauty Bits I Want To Start Using More Of

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

I always look at my makeup when I open up my ‘makeup draw‘ and just see a load of makeup that I have hardly ever used. I probably only use about 10% of my makeup collection. LEGIT. That is how bad it is! I even ‘cleared out‘ my makeup collection the other day getting rids of bits I don’t use… but if I really cleared out bits I don’t use then I would probably only need a makeup bag to store all my bits. BUT COME ON, is everyone else not the same?! I reckon you can think of at least 5 items that you know you need to through out but you still hold onto because you think ‘I-Might-Use-That-Someday’.

But not only am I going to spring clean this year #actuallyalreadyhalfdone I am going to take the makeup I kept but never used because it looked so pretty and start making an effort to use it. So here are some of the things I have chosen… I would have shown you all but because that equates to 90% of my makeup collection we would be here until next Spring!

~~ Kylie Cosmetics Royal Peach Palette ~~

I actually won this in a competition and you know when you enter something, think ‘I win never this’ and then forget about it?? Well I did that and I got a DM saying I had one! I never thought I would be able to own an ACTUAL Kylie Eyeshadow palette but I got my hands on one baby!! This palette has got some BOLD colours in it, which is why I sometimes don’t use it. I wouldn’t be able to get away with some of them on a daily basis, for example one is bright blue, but some of them are more natural and really spring like with peachy tones so it will be perfect for this time of the year. I also really dig the olivey green colour and I have actually used that a few times.

~~ L’Oreal Infallible Sculpt Palette ~~

I bought this on a wimp absolutely agesssss ago and I used it and was like o.h. I wasn’t the greatest fan of the highlighter, I thought it was very patchy and just rubbed my makeup off straight away when blending it, but the contour wasn’t as bad. I jsut never gave it a proper go I don’t think, and I was newer to makeup than I am now so knowing how to use it right might help… So as this is my only cream contour palette I am going to re-try it.

~~ Mac Dangerously Red Mini Lipstick ~~

This is actually a relatively new item to my makeup collection, as I got it for my birthday in a gift set from the Mac Christmas collection, and it came with two other little lipsticks. There are two REALLY GOOD reasons for me to wear this because 1) it’s a Mac Matte Lipstick which is my favourite ever formula for a lipstick and 2) because its such a gorgeous shade. It is just a bit out there. It’s not red, its more of a bright magenta but it is stunning nonetheless. I just need to pluck up the courage and go YES WEAR IT EMILY.

~~ 3INA The Highlighter 201 ~~

I received this product from 3INA (pronounced mee-na you are welcome) as they so kindly sent it to me back in the summer time. I have quite a few highlighters so I tend to have the worst habit and stick to my favourites, however I for some reason went and gave this highlighter a shot (CRAZY ADVENTUROUS I KNOW) and I loved how subtle it was and the dewy glow that it gave. It also has a really nice creamy formula to it so you don’t get a lot of fall out from the pan.

~~ Eyeliner In General ~~

We brushed past this in another one of my recent blog posts, and I all of a sudden have the craving to wear eyeliner. Not like thick, chunky, look-at-me-I-look-like-a-panda style but just a thin catflick with my eyeshadow. So I have bought some eyeliner of mine that had dried up, and I am going to perfect my wing…. One day I will I swear!

Have you got any products that you want to start using again??

I have loads of items I haven’t used for ages, I even have my lipstick that I used for my wedding and that was nearly 29 years ago!!!!!, I have kept it for sentimental reasons I suppose, but there are a lot of eyeshadows and lipsticks that I haven’t used for ages either. trying to work my way through them if I can, I think I will be 70 by the time I have finished it all LOL

Omg no way 29 years?! I found a lipstick in college that was about 50 years old and it was like crayon! But i can understand keeping it for sentimental reasons!

My mom recently delivered my old caboodle to me. It was like a time capsule. I tossed it all, but I wiped out the caboodle and have started using it again. I have started trying to use up what I have instead of buying more, but I struggle with my impulses! Fun post!

I’ve got a tonne of stuff I should use but don’t and won’t get rid of them either 😂 I can relate xx

I have the same problem. Which is crazy when I finally use the product again and remember how much I love it

omg same! I swear I only use around 5%-10% of my makeup collection too.

To try and combat that I’ve put in place a new rule where I can’t buy anything new until I finish something old. So if I want a new foundation I need to finish a bottle of foundation that I already have sitting around in my collection. So far it’s working because i’m falling back in love with products that I completely forgot about!

    Xx

Thats a good rule! TBH I think I do that too, normally with foundation, concealer and powder!

I got that exact same sudden urge to start wearing eyeliner! I have never worn eyeliner with my make up and all of a sudden I want to use it to finish every look! Its like filling in your brows, once you start, your make up just looks unfinished without it!

    • 22/03/2018 / 8:18 pm

I understand your urge! And yes it is so like filling your brows in!

I feel you! Recently I started noticing I was only using the same three colours in one of my eyeshadow palettes. I then decided to give the other colours a go too and loved it! I also switch up between palettes more now xxx

I’m an avid couponer and I am constantly getting drugstore makeup for free or next-to-nothing. There is no way I could ever possibly use it all so I totally understand the struggle. I’m going to make a concentrated effort to use my “rarely used stash” or maybe even do a giveaway on my blog. Thanks for the post. Just followed you as well =)

Always! But it’s like, I’m so in love with my products that I don’t want to throw them away!!!
