• Get Your Spring Clean On!

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

Random Fact: I used to work in a hotel cleaning rooms, and I did that for three years. Another fact is that I find cleaning my own bedroom so EFFING LABORIOUS. It feels like a never-ending task and even if it looks tidy from first glances, I can G.U.A.R.A.N.T.E.E there is something that needs to be cleaned!! I don’t even know how it keeps happening! Surely I have gone to every corner but NOOOOOO!

But I have been working my butt off to try to make my room look tidier because after my birthday and Christmas and the collections of presents half my room was taken up with it just all piled on the floor. I didn’t have a choice about cleaning it because I had to get a second (ugly) desk in my room where I can do my revision for my exams *Eye roll* but I might paint it. I had to make room for it though so I underwent a full spring clean, so here are my tips if you are planning to do one too!

I have also just about finished all the visible parts of my room… so it LOOKS clean but if you were to look under my bed and in my wardrobe then welllllll…. thats a whole other story! Also I thought that the tulips that my god parents had the other day were too pretty not to capture and thought they were quite fitting for a spring cleaning photo as they are the perfect spring flowers!

Grab one for general rubbish, and another for recycling because trying to separate it all at the end might be both vile and tedious. You will need multiple for both // trust me //  but the more bags you fill then the better you have cleaned!!

It is not going to be a quick half an hour job soz to break it to you, so pop on your Spotify or Apple Music tunes and have a little sing on while you clean. In the terms or Snow White (I think…) Whistle While You Work.

As I said above, most likely, if you do not clean religiously like me it will take an awful long while. I have spent so far 4 hours on mine and I still have my wardrobe and under my bed to sort out and I can tell you now I am NOT looking forward to it.

I am one of those people who hate getting rid of things that once had some sort of sentimental value. I hate parting with something that some one has given to me, or old things etc…  but if you want to crack on with the cleaning you NEED to get rid of things that you won’t use again.

Once you have finished it is always good to treat yourself, For example I now have loads of shelf space so I am going to buy some house plants, and funky fairy lights etc just to make my room look less empty… but not fill it with junk of course!

What cleaning tips do you have??

Definitely agree with playing some music, acts as a double workout if you have a boogie!

I love the “be brutal” comment. I find that I have the hardest time with that. Even if I’ve not looked at or remembered an item in many years, for some reason I feel like I still have to hold onto it because of the memories it contains…

I think another thing that works for me is creating a habit of being tidy. I tend to be the kind of person that lets dirt, dust, and junk clutter up my living space, and then I clean it all in one big day. Then I wait a while, let it get gross again, and then go on a cleaning spree. Of course, this isn’t the healthiest or nicest way to keep a space clean – but I’ve noticed that if I make a commitment to do 10 minutes of cleaning per day, then my living space tends to stay nicer and more organized.
